3 things I wish someone had told me about Xero
When I started to use Xero I was not expecting to start a love affair with the New Zealand-created bookkeeping software. I was also not expecting that it would take my business and my clients’ to new heights. One client recently said to me that he looked forward to coming home at the end of the day to see new transactions that he could reconcile on his bank feed – so clearly I’m not the only one in love with it!
The second thing I wish I'd been told is that Xero ALWAYS gets better. When it launched a payroll feature way back when, it was clunky, pretty useless, and drove a lot of us mad. But the new provision is perfect for small businesses and continues to update and improve as time goes by, taking into consideration users feedback – and this applies to all major features in Xero.
My top tip would be to use Xero Budget Manager in conjunction with the Budget Variance Report is an awesome way to check in on your business with just a couple of clicks. I run this on a weekly basis for my business to see where we are with our monthly and annual targets.
